This beautiful couple wanted to recreate their wedding day with a special winter Colorado engagement session at one of our favorite places, Cherry Creek. Such a lovely place to have photos taken. The arbor from their wedding ceremony was a perfect addition to an already stunning location. We had so much fun getting to know them and their love story. Darlene and Gerald had a friend take photos on their actual wedding day 2 years prior but Gerald surprised his beautiful wife with recreating their special day at one of their favorite places. When we arrived they had this romantic setting right along the little creek and had had their arbor all set up just as they had it when they tied-the-knot.
Being a photographer and getting someone in front of the lens everyday is not the best part of our job, its getting to know their story and creating artwork that lasts forever.
Update your photos with loved ones often.
Frequently we hear about how after the wedding has long passed, couples do not get photos taken until their first child comes years later. Then a big gap happens and now they are empty nesters. Still no updated photos. I wish I could shout this from Everest. “Get in front of the camera!” I do not think anyone could ever say the regret all the memories captured with those closest to them. Take selfies, use your point and shoot camera at birthday parties but get your family portraits taken professionally often.
I know in 50 years that when I look back on my images with goofy filters of kitten ears and big eyes with glitter falling from above they will make me happy. What I will cherish and pass on is our keepsake portraits of our family. They are timeless and valuable beyond what I can put into words.
