Jennifer and Derek had a lovely Mile High City wedding at the Willis Case Golf Course in Denver, Colorado in August on the most perfect summer day. This day was not only my dear friends wedding, but I was also in the wedding while photographing it with Jonathan at the same time and did the photo booth. Whew, what a day and I am so excited to finally share these lovely Denver wedding photos at the Willis Case Golf Course.
Waiting over a year from their engagement session to the actual day seemed like forever and I couldn’t wait for the actual day to get here. They are basically bowling professionals (they have these special bowling balls, that I swear have some Harry Potter magic in them) so their wedding date had to do with the score Jen bowled when he proposed to her at their favorite bowling alley. She threw the ball and turned around to find Derek on one knee with this gorgeous engagement ring. We photographed Jennifer and Derek’s engagement photos at the Denver Botanic Gardens and to go with their Denver golf wedding, they had a golf themed engagement session.
When the couple get ready together, it makes for the best photos and a fun morning for the couple and their friends. Of course Derek didn’t see his bride in her dress until the first look before the ceremony. They got ready at this modern little Airbnb near the Highlands, kicking the party off early with the guys, the gals and some beer.
Jen’s mom looked beautiful and helped her get ready for the first look with her father. The custom made bridal gown was designed over the top of her mother’s dress that she wore on her wedding day. Miss Sew It All did an amazing job making this bridal gown and my friend look stunning it in.
First Look
In the West Highlands of Denver we found the perfect first look location for our couple. A giant ‘B’ on the brick wall was the ideal spot for the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Birely. Our favorite first look ever. I cried shooting this, seeing my friend so happy and in love was the best. Being there to witness this love is why I am a wedding photographer.
The sweet and stunning couple had the most beautiful portraits in the warm summer sun. Their friends don’t look so bad themselves, just see how awesome I look in these oh so cute bridal party portraits. Jen and Derek absolutely stole the show with her custom wedding dress and Derek’s dapper navy blue suit.
Wedding at the Willis Case Golf Course
This moment right here, Jonathan and our amazing assistant, Kent, shot this once in a lifetime moment and they nailed it. The bride and her father walking down the aisle so he could give her away gives me all the feels. Perfection.
Gorgeous Colorado summer days are the perfect time of year for a Denver wedding at the Willis Case Golf Course. It rained a little just before the ceremony and then cleared up to provide us with these spectacular views, the ideal backdrop for a lovely golf course wedding.
Having a large group photo after the wedding ceremony is one picture we do at every wedding. It just takes a few moments to gather all the guests and organize the photo, it is totally worth it and always a favorite. Its a great photo to include on your thank you notes. This photo really shows how beautiful a Denver golf course wedding is with these amazing views of the Rocky Mountains.
J + D look amazing together, it has been a fun 8 years watching them grow together as a couple and shooting these was the highlight of the wedding for me. The bride’s DIY silk floral bouquet was handmade by her mother, a special keepsake to remember this special day.
Waterfront Event Center Wedding
Near Lakeside sits the cutest little reception hall, the Waterfront Event Center, a great place to gather all your closest friends to a huge evening party. Jen and Derek kicked off their party with a fun grand entrance and fun cake smash.
Love, love, love these first dance as husband and wife photos and a perfect dip just at the right time. They danced to I Cross My Heart by George Strait. Jen and her father, Anthony, dancing made me cry thinking about my dance with my dad. Jen made this special sign for him, that this is her favorite dance. Tears flowing! 😭 Derek and his grandma also had a spin on the dance floor.
We love that the Denver Police were moonlighting as security and pretend cuff these two party going love birds. Bound together forever, it was a perfect wedding and being a part of it was the highlight of my career as a wedding photographer. Love you Jennifer and Derek!
