The ice piles up on the shore at Lewis and Clark State Park here in North Dakota and it is insanely beautiful. Our first time seeing it and we feel so lucky to live in such an amazing place, it never fails to surprise us with all the great spots for engagement sessions.

A little bit about Laura and Cole:
How did you guys meet?
We actually met in High School in Germany! He was an Air Force brat and my dad worked for DOD schools. He grew up mostly in Germany. I grew up in 4 different countries and lived in Germany the longest (also German through my mom!) 🙂 He’s two years younger than me so I didn’t really notice him while he had a crush on me. He was too shy to talk to me so we never really connected back then. In 2016, he added me on FB. We didn’t start talking really until January 2018. We were long distance for the first two years (almost). After I finished college in Florida, we did a road trip with a cat and now I am in North Dakota too! August 2020, we took a trip down to Rapid City for my birthday. On the 8th, we hiked to Black Elk Peak and when we reached the top, he proposed!
What are your favorite things to do on the weekends?
When we’re lazy and it’s winter, we tend to stay in and watch movies and tv shows. I’ll occasionally play video games with him but I didn’t grow up as a gamer, so I’m not as into it! In the summer, we love to take our kayaks out onto the lakes and spend a couple hours on the water. This summer we also got traditional bows to practice archery. When we went to SD, we got the chance to do a lot of hiking. We love the outdoors, especially when we’re surrounded by trees and mountains. Sadly, North Dakota lacks in that area so we don’t hike as much as we would like. We also like to spend time with people when we can. We like to entertain and have game nights or drive out to Minot to spend time with his folks. My mom is in Germany and my dad is in Florida so it’s not as easy to spend time with them!
North Dakota has beautiful shorelines along the Missouri River.
Christmas Mini Session
These two lovelies joined us for our Christmas in Williston mini sessions before their engagement photos. The pictures of them cuddling on the sofa with their hot chocolates under the blanket are my favorite.
We love a good North Dakota engagement session, and fully believe in celebrating where you live and enjoying the weather year-round.
